First Trance Experience

Tonight I had my first trance experience as I was initiated into a school of Taoist Wicha. Previously when I did my Thai Sakyants I did not experience such things, but just now I could really feel the energy of certain present deities coursing through my whole body. My mind was conscious and I did not try to control it; everything just happened by itself. It was a fierce trance of animal deities, not unlike those you see during those Wat Bang Phra "Wai Kru" ceremonies. The other initiates had more gentle trances. I also somehow drew Taoist talismans to be consumed by myself, although I had no idea what Yants I was drawing at all. Very strange yet quite amazing. The path of Wicha begins right here. May the Ariya Sangha and Great Lersis guide me, sadhu.

Wow very interesting.

Hopefully there is a chance for someone to video this experience of yours the next time around.

Fascinating. May I ask which school of Taoism? Liuren (Luk Yam) or Maoshan?

To harry:
U can classify it under Maoshan cos both Liuren and Jinying originate from Maoshan. However this school has elements of Thai Buddhism incoporated into it as well. So I'd consider it "Siam Mao".

It is my understanding that spirits or deities can never enter the body of the ariyas (pure beings). Thus going into trance is not good practice because the external forces takes away your consciouness and your mind are numbed. The Buddha advised his followers to practise mindfulness and attain a clarity of mind at all time.

I dont want to be a Puttujana, but neither do I want to be an Ariya. I dont want to debate the good or bad of being in trance, but the question to be asked is: "What is the meaning of the verse 'Mount Sumeru contains a mustard seed & a mustard seed contains Mount Sumeru'?"
